After seeing a few photos pop up on Instagram of a supposed waterfall in Oman, I decided to chance my luck at finding this waterfall. Instructions online are either hard to find or are a little vague…which I love, because it makes the adventure a little bit more interesting. These instructions are also a bit vague, but specific at the same time…kinda.
I headed out with a few of my friends at 4am. I realised 4am is the sweet spot for setting off on an adventure as this means I get to see the sunrise and I tend to get to my destination before everyone else arrives, although this particular spot wasn’t overpopulated at all.
We made our way to Tiwi, which is around 2 hours away from Muscat. Once you get to Tiwi, make your way to Wadi Tiwi and drive right through. This is where the adventure begins. You will find yourself driving through some amazing villages, trees and steep roads inclining and declining (a 4x4 car will be needed). Once you pass through the village, you will find yourself surrounded by mountains. Carry on through until you reach another village. You will then need to drive through that village until you get to a village with a sign that reads “Mipam”, and no, I didn’t just make a spelling mistake, the sign spelt “Mibam” wrong. Once you reach Mibam, you’ll need to park your car and head down to the steps which will take you straight to the waterfall.
The water at the waterfall was quite cold, but extremely refreshing, and once the sun hits the waterfall, you won’t need to worry about drying yourself with a towel.
A tip, ask every passing car on your drive to the wadi where to go. You will see plenty of them, and they are more than happy to help, as I took a few wrong turns early on, making turning back round quite hard due to how narrow the roads are.
